Weather Incentive
The weather in Britain is known for being notoriously unreliable and as such many businesses can suffer at its hands. Weather incentive marketing aims to reduce the loss to companies caused by bad weather or bizarrely in some industries, good weather.
To boost revenue companies use a weather incentive to entice and enthuse potential customers. Forecast rain or storms may for example put people off visiting a particular tourist attraction, which would likely result in a loss of revenue. To combat this, the attraction may offer a weather incentive such as giving visitors their money back or a free annual ticket if more than 3mm of rain falls on a particular day.
Similarly a travel agent may see a reduction in holidays abroad if Britain is set to have a very hot summer. They may therefore offer a weather incentive of free spending money if the temperature in a chosen destination is lower than that in Britain on a particular day.
Whilst weather incentives may sound different to many ‘normal’ marketing methods they have proven they work time and again so if the weather reduces your sales figures maybe weather incentive marketing is the answer for you.
