Hard Water Treatment
Hard water is called such because it is high in dissolved minerals, specifically calcium and magnesium. Whilst this does not make the hard water unhygienic and can be troublesome in the amount of scale it causes in pipe work and reduced effect it has on soaps and detergents.
Fortunately there are hard water treatments available from reputable companies to combat these problems and give long term financial and cosmetic benefits. The most common and popular until recently were water softeners, which replaces any calcium or magnesium in the water with sodium.
Water softeners are available from a wide range of manufacturers and before purchasing one all the options should be thoroughly researched. Different models have varying features that may be suitable for some areas or family sizes better than others.
The other hard water treatment that has become more popular recently is known as water conditioning and is different from a water softener in that it creates a magnetic field around pipe work. This magnetic field alters the ions in the water so they no longer have the ability to cause scale.
If you live in hard water area you should contact your local hard water treatment specialist who will be able to advise on the best course of action to make the water for your home softer.
