Scavenge Pumps

Any engine uses oil to function but in turbo charged models oil scavenging can become an issue.  Any restriction in the draining of oil can send it immediately past the exhaust seals, as in systems mounted below the engine oil level as well.

Scavenge pumps are used in dry sump systems to return oil from the crankcase to the main oil reservoir so avoiding problems such as leaking.  Many scavenge pumps are powerful enough to pull oil over 30″ in height from low mounted turbo chargers and designed to keep temperatures low.  There are a number of styles and brands available to buy scavenge pumps from but before purchasing you should research which would be most durable and suited to your vehicle.
