Low Voltage Dichroic Lamps

Dichroic lamps produce very accurate colour effects, usually through a specialised filter that creates the colour through the principle of interference, not dissimilar to the way light reflects off oil.  Dichroic lamps reflect visible light forward whilst allowing invisible infrared light to pass out the rear, thus improving whiteness and generating a more pure colour.

Although fairly expensive, dichroic lamps are popular in theatrical and architectural applications, as the purer colour can create more dramatic effects and highlight particularly important features.  For reduced costs low voltage dichroic lamps can be used, which work in the same way and with little reduction in light quality.   At the same time as lowering costs, using a low energy lamp improves energy efficiency and is more beneficial to the environment.
