Lighting Technology
As with all areas of technology, lighting has advanced at great speed with improvements being discovered all the time. Lighting may seem quite a straightforward area to many who just look to buy a light bulb of the right size. However, lighting technology is far more complex, especially in commercial sectors.
Simple household bulbs come in a whole range of shapes, sizes and power levels but commercial lighting offers a host of bulbs, tubes and spot lamps to suit different applications. Office spaces may use fluorescent lighting technology because it is energy efficient and cost effective while retail shops might use lots of spotlights to highlight eye-catching products.
Supermarkets and food shops have to use special lighting technology to preserve the quality of goods and maintain a high standard of safety. Some lights can create heat that may cause food to become bad while others can discolour food, both of which would affect sales. Advances in lighting technology mean that products can be marketed effectively within a safe capacity.
