Transcription for Deaf People

Transcription for deaf people comes in two forms, namely palantyping and stenography.  Dedicated individuals, passionate about improving the quality of life for deaf people, spend years training and learning about transcription for deaf people before they can put it into practice.

Palantyping and stenography are similar in that they both require the trained individual to type in short hand simultaneously with a speaker.  The keyboards they type on are specially modified for this function although the layout varies for each profession.  Their short hand is then automatically translated back into full English and projected as a transcription for deaf people to read and understand.

This type of transcription for deaf people prevents them from feeling isolated during social occasions and ensures they are not at a disadvantage during situations like meetings and conferences.  It is not the only method of improving communication for the hard of hearing but is usually most effective on occasions where a large number of people are present.
