Speech to Text Reporter

A speech to text reporter is an individual who has trained extensively in the art of either stenography or palantyping.  They focus their career and skills on the very worthwhile cause of improving communication for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Speech to text reporters are hired for situations like meetings, conventions and court appearances where it is vital that all attendees understand what is being said.  They use a specially designed computer and keyboard to type simultaneously with the speaker.  Speech to text reporters use a shorthand code to keep up with the rate of speech but this is translated by the computer, which then projects what has been said on to a screen for the hearing impaired to read.
