Convention Speech Text

The deaf community can often feel excluded from activities that many consider to be ‘normal’ and take for granted.  Stenographers and palantypists have trained to prevent this from happening so often.  They can be hired to interpret for the deaf and hard of hearing in situations such as meetings, court appearances and conventions.

Under circumstances where it is important for everyone to understand what is said, speech convention text is often seen to be displayed.  The convention speech text will appear on a large screen, almost in unison with what the speaker is saying.  This has not been pre-written but is instead the work of a diligent speech to text reporter to help those with hearing problems.  Aids such as convention speech text greatly improve the quality of life for deaf people, better including them in events and improving communication.
