Handheld Barcode Reader

Handheld barcode readers are most commonly used in supermarkets or factories. Their small size makes them incredibly convenient and easy-to-use on places like shop floors and in warehouses. Handheld barcode readers work in the same way as any other form of barcode reader, except all the parts required are fitted into a smaller case that ensures easier handling.

Without barcoded products handheld barcode readers are useless. Each product has its own individual code, which is scanned by the reader and sent to the main computer where it is processed. The user will not only be updating the main database with information but can receive details such as prices and stock levels almost immediately on the handheld barcode reader. The speed at which information can be transferred is impressive, although handheld barcode readers have not always been as efficient. As with any form of technology, barcode scanners and readers have been steadily improved over the years and will continue to be in the future.
